CMCW makes interactive art that collects and disseminates information in beautiful and useful ways.

We offer unique skills and expertise that enable us to concept and build novel data comprehension solutions in literally any medium. Basically we make real-world things that talk to computers, that are useful and beautiful.

Treefort Venue Visualization

CMCW made this data visualization of venue activity for the Treefort Music Festival. It consists of a map of all the festival venues each with orbiting particles. Venue Viz polls the festival app's API for capacity information and adjusts particle density accordingly. It also gets schedule information and periodically highlights a venue showing current and upcoming bands. It was proudly displayed at festival HQ.

The Very Dynamic Box

The Very Dynamic Box is a proof of concept made by CMCW consisting of a black walnut enclosure displaying replaceable transparent slides over an LED array controlled by an Arduino microcontroller.

We made several programs for the box, the first shown here is a simulation of population density as festival goers move between venues at the Treefort Music Festival, sped up 60x.

The second is Hashtag Horserace! The players enter four hashtags, the system then polls Twitter's API and every time a tweet is posted that contains one of the hashtags that horse progresses down the track. Place your bets!
